Two website quotes can show the same price and deliver completely different things. A clear quote protects you: it sets what you will receive, when, and what happens next. Here is how to read one, and how to ask for one to get a precise answer quickly.
What a good website quote should specify
- The type of site and number of pages: business website, online store, booking site, web app.
- The design: adapted template or custom mock-up, and how many revision rounds are included.
- The content: who writes the copy, who provides photos, how many languages (French, Arabic, English).
- The features: contact or quote form, WhatsApp button, online payment, booking, blog.
- Domain name and hosting: included or not, for how long, and in whose name they are registered.
- SEO: titles, descriptions, speed, Google Business Profile, sitemap.
- Timeline: delivery date and approval steps.
- Payment: total amount, deposit, instalments.
- After delivery: warranty, maintenance, cost of future changes.
- What is not included: a good quote says so in black and white.
What to prepare before asking for a quote
The more precise your request, the more precise the quote. Before contacting a provider, write down:
- your business, your city and your target customers;
- the goal of the site: be found on Google, get calls, sell online, take bookings;
- two or three websites you like, and why;
- the pages you want and the languages;
- what you already have: logo, photos, copy, domain name;
- your approximate budget and when you want to be online.
Quotes over WhatsApp: handy, but not enough
In Morocco many projects start with a WhatsApp message, which is perfect for a first conversation. But then ask for a written quote (PDF or email) covering every point above. If there is a disagreement, that document is what counts, not a chat.
How to compare several quotes
Don't just compare the total. Put the quotes side by side, line by line: number of pages, copy included or not, languages, SEO, hosting, timeline, warranty. A cheaper quote that excludes copy, domain and SEO often ends up costing more.
